Most Florida MSPs promise the same things. The differences show up at 2 a.m., when a hypervisor will not boot or a backup job that reported success cannot be restored. Nearly every managed service provider lists 24/7 monitoring, patching, and backups. What separates them is where a technician can stand in front of the gear, how the bill grows with users and devices, which compliance work they have done, and who has authority to isolate a host.
Florida is not a thin market for that work. The U.S. Department of Labor's Program Year 2024–2025 Florida WIOA narrative identified nearly 47,000 high-tech establishments and more than 326,000 employees in the state's information-technology sector, plus an estimated 11,200 cybersecurity job openings and 33.9% projected growth in that field by 2033. Staffing pressure is why small firms outsource monitoring instead of hiring a full security bench.
This roundup compares seven managed service providers in Florida on production reach, pricing shape, and the gap you should force into discovery before you sign. Treat every marketing claim as unverified until you see a runbook, a restore log, and a written exclusion list.

1. ARPHost, LLC
ARPHost's Tampa infrastructure spans shared hosting, VPS, bare metal, Proxmox private clouds, colocation, and managed services. For a business considering that range, the operational question is how backup ownership and recovery responsibilities are defined across hosted and off-site servers.

What we actually operate
The Tampa datacenter has redundant power systems with UPS and diesel generators, N+1 precision cooling, hot and cold aisle containment, and physical security that includes biometric access and mantrap entry. Its bandwidth comes from multiple Tier-1 providers. Hosting includes network protection, firewalls, and regular security updates.
Managed services cover Linux and Windows servers hosted with ARPHost or elsewhere. Plans include setup, patch and configuration management, vulnerability scanning, security updates, intrusion detection, and 24/7 monitoring of uptime, resources, and services with automatic alerts. Backup work includes configuration and monitoring, restore checks, and retention management. ARPHost provides U.S.-based support by ticket, chat, and phone, and states a 99.99% uptime SLA. All managed services plans include 24/7 support and the uptime guarantee. Custom configurations are available through the sales team.
On-site reach is the Tampa datacenter, not a promise of local technicians in every Florida county. Remote server management can address software and infrastructure tasks, but it cannot replace on-site access for physical hardware work. A business that needs desktop visits outside Tampa should confirm how those requests would be handled before signing.
The failure mode worth testing
A Proxmox guest that fails to boot after storage trouble can expose a gap between a successful backup job and a usable recovery. On Proxmox VE 8, restore the archive and check the guest state and configuration:
qmrestore /mnt/backup/vzdump-qemu-888.vma 601
qm status 601
qm config 601
The Proxmox VE 8 vzdump chapter documents live restore with --live-restore. If the restored guest is misconfigured, stop it, remove it with qm destroy 601 --purge, correct the storage or bridge settings, then retry the original archive. Common causes include a full target datastore, a storage ID that does not match the node, a missing bridge, or a VMID already in use.
Daily backups with one-click restoration are available on supported hosting. Managed backup coverage adds job configuration, restore verification, and retention management. See the details of ARPHost managed IT services in Tampa.
Practical rule: A green backup job is not a recovery test. Boot the guest on a non-production VLAN and record how long the application takes to answer.
Gap to verify: Confirm the included hours before a change becomes a project, and ask whether restore tests are scheduled or run only on request. Check that the restore procedure covers the target storage, network bridge, and application startup.
2. Sentinel Technology Services (STS)
STS is a Tampa Bay MSP aimed at small and midsize firms. Remote support extends elsewhere in Florida and across the U.S. The local piece is the one that changes a bad night: on-site hours inside Tampa Bay, not a national dispatch queue.

Published packages are priced by person and by support level, which makes a first comparison easier than a pure custom quote. The published tiers stop at 20 users. Past that, you need a custom quote, and the starting rate stops being the bill.
Endpoint and identity work: Monitoring, patching, and Microsoft 365 administration sit in the base service.
Security operations: They list 24/7 security monitoring, vulnerability scanning, backups, and scheduled restore testing.
After-hours path: Unlimited remote support on business plans, plus a 24/7 emergency line for clients.
Storm season: Hurricane continuity planning is called out, which matters more on the Gulf coast than another antivirus logo.
Healthcare, law, finance, retail, and property management are named as industries they support. That is a claim about familiarity, not a certification letter. Included on-site hours change by plan, and extra time can cost more.
Gap to verify: Get the on-site hour bank, the after-hours definition, and whether restore testing produces a written report. A 20-user cap means a growing office can reprice mid-contract.
3. Diversicom
Diversicom is headquartered in Tampa and states on-site coverage from Tallahassee to Miami. That is a wide footprint on paper. Drive time, after-hours staffing, and which office rolls a truck still decide whether "Florida-wide" is real.

Managed IT is quoted per person, with onboarding plus security and backup tiers scoped apart from the starting rate. An online estimator and a published starting point exist, so you can budget before a call, then expect the call anyway. Terms are typically month-to-month or 12 to 18 months, according to the company. Tampa and Dallas datacenters, plus geographically redundant backups, are listed among infrastructure options.
They describe experience with requirements involving HIPAA, SEC, FINRA, SOX, and bar associations. Experience is not the same as your evidence pack. When a host looks compromised, do not reboot first. NIST incident-handling guidance treats OS, service, and audit logs as evidence of which accounts acted. A first pass on a systemd host looks like this:
journalctl --since "2 hours ago" -p warning..alert
journalctl -u ssh --since today
last -ai
grep -E "Failed password|Accepted" /var/log/auth.log
Save that output before anyone "cleans up." Monitoring that only forwards an alert is not incident response.
Gap to verify: Map each regulatory framework to a named control owner, and confirm on-site coverage for your city after 6 p.m. Ask which of onboarding, endpoint security, and backup sit outside the per-person rate.
4. Simple Network Solutions (SNS)
SNS is the South Florida desk in this list. The company says it has served Miami-Dade and nearby communities since 2006, with local technicians and bilingual English and Spanish support. That language coverage is an operational feature when the person at the register is not the person who opens the ticket.

Plans are published per user per month, with month-to-month options, covering computers, servers, and cloud. The service list is help desk, network, security, cloud, and backup. Remote support is available for hybrid or multi-site teams. On-site work stays local. If your second office is in Jacksonville, do not assume the Miami truck rolls there.
This is a recurring-support pitch against break-fix. Break-fix feels cheaper until the same server fails every quarter and nobody owns patch cadence. The trade-off is line-item growth. Extra computers, extra sites, projects, licenses, and taxes can sit outside the posted per-user figure.
A posted per-user plan is a budgeting start. It is not the invoice for a three-site retailer with separate guest Wi-Fi and a line-of-business server.
Gap to verify: Ask for a sample invoice that includes a second site and a project. Confirm Spanish-language coverage on the emergency line, not only on daytime help desk, and the travel window inside Miami-Dade.
5. Simply IT
IT is veteran-owned, based in Ocala, and focused on nine North Central Florida counties, including areas around Gainesville and Daytona Beach. It is a regional operator, not a statewide one. That limit is a virtue if your offices sit inside those counties and a problem if they do not.

Service levels run from monitoring-only through fuller per-user management. They also sell co-managed IT and project work for teams that already have internal staff. Compliance-aware options are described for HIPAA, FTC Safeguards, and Florida Bar requirements, and they say healthcare clients can get a Business Associate Agreement. Microsoft 365 and business phone service are extra.
You do not have to sign a long-term contract. Cancellation still needs 90 days' notice. That is enough time for a bad fit to keep billing through a quarter, so read the exit clause before you like the price sheet.
Small firms that want monitoring without giving up root can pair a regional MSP with a host that already runs the servers. Our notes on managed IT for small business separate help-desk scope from infrastructure operations so you do not pay two companies for the same patch window.
Gap to verify: List every site against those nine counties. Confirm the BAA is executed, that 90-day notice is the only exit cost, and which tools stay yours if you leave.
6. Vigilance Networks
Vigilance Networks is based in Orlando. The stated region covers Central Florida, Tampa Bay, North Florida, and Northeast Florida. On-site availability still depends on location, scope, scheduling, and the agreement. A map on a website is not a dispatch commitment.

Three published managed levels exist, priced per user, and a monthly minimum can apply. Scope language covers users, endpoints, networks, Microsoft 365, cloud, security, and backup readiness. Cybersecurity is included depending on plan. Projects and assessments are sold as a way to start without a full managed contract. Recovery planning and infrastructure modernization sit beside the help desk.
Final price moves with users, devices, licensing, and how much infrastructure you already have. A minimum changes the math for a five-person office: the per-user teaser can land under a floor you only see in the order form.
Gap to verify: Get the on-site counties in the contract, not the marketing region. Ask whether the minimum survives a downsizing, and which security tools drop off the cheapest tier. Request the escalation tree for an Orlando outage at 2 a.m. versus a Tampa Bay outage the same night.
7. ProtectiCloud
ProtectiCloud sells to Orlando and Central Florida: managed and co-managed IT, help desk, infrastructure, voice, and security operations. Statewide coverage should not be assumed. If you need a body in the building, stay inside the region they will name in writing.

Pricing follows technology-enabled employees. The managed rate is higher for legal, healthcare, and financial businesses than for a standard office. Co-managed and augmented IT exist for teams that keep an internal admin. A separate SOC and business phone system are quoted on their own. Projects and one-time work are quoted apart from the monthly seat. Named industries include e-commerce, manufacturing, construction, and smaller businesses.
Co-managed only works when backup ownership is obvious. Ransomware recovery fails when the backup share uses the same admin password as production. CISA's ransomware guidance calls for offline, encrypted copies, delete protection or object lock where you have it, tested restores, and a written plan. A quick integrity check before you trust a tarball:
findmnt /backup
df -h /backup
sha256sum /backup/latest.tar.zst
mkdir /tmp/restore-test && tar -I zstd -tf /backup/latest.tar.zst | head
Image-level copies belong off that same credential. Our backup as a service is built for that split: retention and restore checks that do not live on the domain admin token the attacker just stole.
Gap to verify: Confirm the employee count they will bill, the uplift for regulated work, and whether the SOC is a human on a bridge call or an alert forwarder. Get Central Florida on-site hours in the statement of work.
Florida MSPs Compared by Published Starting Price, Stated Service Area, and Compliance Experience

| ProtectiCloud | Per-employee pricing; higher rates for legal, healthcare, and financial businesses | Orlando and Central Florida | Higher-priced managed plans for regulated industries; specific standards not stated |
The published figures are not directly comparable: ARPHost's starting price is for managed services, while several other entries describe user-based pricing without a stated amount. Before comparing monthly totals, confirm what each quote includes, how it handles additional users or locations, and whether compliance support means documented controls or general industry experience. Operational gap to verify: Ask each provider for the billing unit and a sample scope of work showing what the starting price covers.
Shortlist by Coverage First, Then Test the Runbook
Filter by where people sit and whether someone must walk into the office. A Miami desk, an Ocala county list, an Orlando minimum, and a Tampa datacenter with remote server management are different products. Starting rates are not comparable until you list onboarding, security tiers, backup, licensing, extra sites, and after-hours labor beside them.
Before you sign, ask for three artifacts. You want a sample restore-test report with a boot time, not a checkbox. You want the escalation path for an outage after hours, including who may isolate a host. You want a written list of what the starting price excludes.
I would score providers on five checks:
- Physical reach: Name the cities where a technician arrives the same day, and the cities that are remote-only.
- Bill shape: Per user, per device, per employee, or per server hour, plus any monthly floor.
- Compliance evidence: A BAA, a control matrix, or a prior audit letter, not a logo row.
- Recovery authority: Who decides to cut a VLAN, and what the RPO and RTO numbers are in the contract.
- Exit terms: Notice period, who owns the documentation, and how backups are handed back.
Hurricane weeks stack power loss, carrier cuts, and ticket spikes. A provider who has only practiced cyber drills, and never a site power loss, will improvise both at once. Pair regional help desk with infrastructure that already has generator power, tested backups, and a private cloud you can rebuild. Our Proxmox private clouds and Tampa colocation are the pieces we run when the workstation MSP should not also be the only copy of the data.
If the shortlist cannot show a restore log and an after-hours name, keep looking. Tool lists do not boot a VM.
ARPHost, LLC runs managed infrastructure from Tampa for teams that need servers, private cloud, colocation, and backups under one operating contract, including patching, monitoring, and restore checks. If you are comparing managed service providers in Florida and want the hardware side spelled out before you sign a help-desk plan, visit ARPHost, LLC and ask for a scope built around the systems you already have.
